I agree etap is the ideal group but I’ve already got a di2 group here doing nothing, and it’s the external version with external battery, so in some ways more ideal than newer internal di2

Let’s see some pictures!
-
• #654
Not sure how it would look with the external wires, unless you drilled?
-
• #655
I didn't realise there was an external 11 speed di2 groupset!
-
• #656
Well it’s 6870 mechs with 6770 shifters, battery and junction boxes… it’s runs 11 speed 👍🏻

Ah I should have been more clear, mine is a Talbot with ritchey breakaway kit! I didn't think about the drilling differences before I posted...
-
• #658
Bizarrely hoping it looks a little like that R2D2 Talbot with the di2 wire in the paint… it won’t but… it’ll be ugly but functional and kind of practical…

Its steel, so drilling a small hole for a single di2 cable entry on the downtube doesn't sound too problematic either way.

Does anyone have a spare 27.2 ritchey seatpost? Preference would be for a WCS one… anyone know if they ever made the wet white in 27.2?
Cheers,
Matt -

They made also a Comp version.
Quick Google search for a WCS;

Ah thank you! 👍🏻

Btw, you need a longer spindle for a bsa30. I know from a prolonged experience... 125mm works for mine with some 30mm axle spacers to get it bang centre on the BB. The 119mm was eccentric.
And great looking biek. I got a cheap source in Germany if you're interested and not resolved yet; slide into my DMs! -

Ah cheers for the heads up, might just sell the cranks then - axle and BB would cost as much as finding an old shimano crank and bb…

Was going to make a foldable breakaway case, but have actually bought one of these folding bike bags (sorry for amazon link…) to take my outback breakaway to Spain next week. Test packing it now, and it easily fits my XL frame and 700x43 tires fully inflated, so a touch roomier than the standard breakaway case, but pretty close dimensions wise.
I’ll stick some cardboard down the sides at either end to protect for the flight.
It’s a little extra to carry obviously, but it rolls down pretty small and straps easily onto the outside of my saddlebag. I’ll need to get on a train in Spain that doesn’t accept non folded bikes, so I’ll be able to break the bike down for that trip too. Might be useful for any other breakaway owners doing A-B tours abroad, saves sourcing a cardboard bike box abroad -

Thanks for this, I’ve just bought one. I’m hoping to do a couple of train trips and then ride home and this is perfect.
Also, as a PSA there’s a Swiss cross breakaway on eBay and I need somebody to buy it before I do. It’s only just down the road too.

New rando-bike coming from Ritchey:

I'm absolutely the person that would look to buy one of those, but no rear rack mounts seems like a bit of a miss.

I’ve got a breakaway project that’s stalled - Anyone fancy trading it for a Brompton?
-

Convince me Ritchey fan-club (I want to be convinced): why would anyone in the UK buy this over Strael? Aside form the fork which is objectively prettier
-
• #672
I like this a lot!
-
• #673
No idea what the geometry is going to be yet so that's quite hard to say and the Strael does look nice.
But for me personally I already have a Secan so don't really fancy having another Fairlight that would be visually so similar :)

Want
That's what I've got on my breakaway!
Di2 isn't too much of a faff though either tbc (had that before)
