Sovereign Citizen.
They believe traffic laws apply only to commercial vehicles. They don’t get insurance or proper registrations and often use fake plates.
UCC is “Universal Commercial Code” which they use to justify their exemption.
Youtube has lots of videos of them interacting with cops and it almost always ends badly.
I would avoid them, not a joke. But a call to the police might be a good idea. -

Bill Gates is putting chalk in the sky
He's welcome to come and take some chalk out of my garden. Absolute nightmare digging around.

new starter just told me that Bill Gates is putting chalk in the sky to block the sun
Ha, what an idiot, he's totally fallen for the distraction planted by the people who are not Bill Gates who are putting not chalk into the sky to block the sun.

Sovereign Citizen.
Condolences on having one of these in your life. I’ve come to the working conclusion that it’s a confluence of an undiagnosed mental illness/dysfunction/trauma, and a wildly incomplete/naive misunderstanding of the nature of laws and power in society.
Are human laws arbitrary? Yes, by definition. Can you opt out? No, by definition laws are imposed forcefully on their subjects, with or without their consent. Are there specific series of words that you can say to maneuvre around certain laws? In principle yes however these words and concepts are themselves specified by other laws within the same legal system. What if I think the jurisdiction doesn’t apply to me? Then you need to construct a legally logical argument using the same legal system to prove that it doesn’t apply to you; failing this, you need another jurisdiction that’s willing to agree with you and protect you.
All of the above is rational and routine within the legal world, but unless a person is a lawyer they’re unlikely to know how to apply what, when, and where.
Laws are worth the paper they’re printed on unless people follow them. They’re also like spiderwebs, catching the small insects but not doing a thing to more powerful animals intent on moving through.

Dunno what qualifies as cool and interesting, but there's an old forum connection here:

Wicked - thanks!

This is bonkers. Obviously dreamed up by people who don’t have genuine worries in life.

Another question, leading on from earlier. How do you steer someone away from the rabbit hole? He’s only a young lad (a very pleasant one at that) and I feel morally obliged to say something.
I dunno, maybe it’s not my business.

How do you steer someone away from the rabbit hole?
Can't find the link but I heard (Radio4) that some people were succeeding by pointing out what people had to disbelieve in order for their conspiracy theories to be true. Pointing out how stupid they are to believe what normal people recognise as obviously false is ineffective and often counterproductive.

Thank you. This is good food for thought

I want to replace the arm springs on some
BR-R600 brakes. The part number is Y81U09200, SJS don't have stock and confirmed that it's been discontinued by Shimano. Are arm springs that different between shimano brakes? Is there a way to find an alternative compatible part (I remember seeing this for other parts but I can't remember where) or should I start looking for donor brakes? -

The soy bit is not completely untrue.
Just not that true.
( in the same way that eating a whole pile of anything - whether that’s soy or chalk or vaccine - is generally not a good thing )
-
• #121671
I mean, I agree. I stay away from soy, but not because I'm afraid of becoming less-Alpha; because it goes through me like yogurt through a dog.

• #121674
I have just screen grabbed the image with the incriminating web address/image and menu bar with the date. hopefully I will not need to get all forensic on them and they cough up.

That's all I would do!
So I don’t want to start talking about Venn diagrams being complete circles, but my new starter just told me that Bill Gates is putting chalk in the sky to block the sun. And that he was “also responsible for funding the vaccine” (in a negative manner).
Oh and he doesn’t eat tofu because of the soy/oestrogen.
