I see, thanks. Out of interest, what sealant are you using and are you plugging tiny or larger holes?

I'm using X-Sauce I got in the workshop, seems to fix small pointy plant stuff you get around here fine, it's usually going fast over rocky ground what kills them.
Bit of user error maybe, but I had less trouble with other tires. Still got a second pair, they're so fast -

Sheesh this has got to be my worst london flat yet. I'm pretty sure the tyre is nailed to the rim!

Thats impressive . The rim maybe knackered as well.

Epic, show use the rim plz
-
• #10307
I will but first I need to crowbar the tyre off somehow

Did a little laugh at that 😂
You also have my sympathies but pics when out!

How does that even occur?

no idea i was just passing a construction site...
Y'all think i need a new rim? It's only punctured the upper layer, so should be fine?

they test pretty slow despite feeling reasonably fast. the older pacestar version i think was better.
i've found the spesh mondo to be a good replacement

• #10313
I think you’ll be alright, well I would try to carry on using it
-
• #10314
I don't really believe those tests are that accurate for off-road tyres.

g-one speed is really a road tire though? or at least a mostly road tire. but sure

£90 for two GP 5000s with tubes, anyone spotted cheaper? https://www.merlincycles.com/continental-gp5000-folding-tyres-with-2-free-inner-tubes-pair-129803.html

Just went to pick up the gravelish bike from Brixton Cycles after a tubeless setup.
Front rim and tyre covered in sealant and very flat. Probably due to holes in tyre.
They are going to try again, with patches and plugs, whilst I pick new tyres as a contingency plan.
Any reason why I shouldn't spend £160 on a pair of Rene Herse Barlow Pass, which I covet? Apart from crazy fucking price?
Any decent cheaper alternatives I should consider, in 700x40ish not knobbly, mainly road, some canal path and disused railway?

Vittoria Terreno Zero Gravel Endurance are the current best other choice.
Any others I should consider?

Look no further, buy spare ones with the money saved

Ah, but with a tube in there it would've reduced the force of nail enough to stop it damaging the rim. #broscience
I think the only thing that went through my old Marathon Plus was a screw, in much the same fashion.

I like Barlow Pass. According to Amey they are slippy and lose contact in corners.

EU.
Thinking of buying new tyres delivered to hotels or something when I'm doing events there.

You answered your own question. Fuck paying that for tyres.

About the same. I'm running out of tire worms. Grip in loose surfaces isn't great but that's to be expected with that thread. Not durable, decent levels of grip for an almost slick tire, very fast, looks great in tan wall, doesn't blow out big. There's different variations make sure you buy the expensive ones if it's all out speed what you want
