I saw it on the Paul Components Instagram. It's got discs so doesn't that automatically make it incompatible with Ultraromance?

They (Sierra Nevada Brewing/Beer Co are a big sponsor but I think it's mostly Paul Comp that organise it and obv they get other folks like WI etc on board too) do one evey year, there's been the Sierra Kliunker, Sierra Shredder, Sierra Explorer and so on.
They usually and quite rightly get posted in 'ere. It's just a bit wierd as they all involve companies that are making (in my opinion at least) bike porn 11 months of the year then the month befpore Seaotter they come together and...

Because for all their flaws, Americans understand what "fun" is?

Americans understand what "fun" is?
If we're doing cultural stereotyping, the problem might be that they actually don't have a sense of fun. Look at any field of endeavour in the US and you see a constant quest for more, because they are never satisfied with enough.

Exactly.
Nobody is happy with anything for long. As soon as a neighbour gets a new bike/car/tv/lawnmower they want a better one. -

I don't/can't look at any of those bikes and see 'fun', I see people trying sooo hard to be 'cool' and, ulitmately, getting it sooo wrong.
I find the day to day stuff that these companies are putting out much more fun.

Nearly gets away with it by leaning into the ugly so hard.
Interesting take on a dropper post; could've been a thing on an early MTB, given enough standover clearance...
Makes me wonder if anyone's used the guts of an office chair for that job.

As ectoplasm has pointed out, it was. Ideally paired with an SR MT100 so you could quick adjust setback as well 🙂

Now we're talking. I love how all of the pinks and purple kind-of match, but mostly don't. Excellent work.

Only thing that bothers me about this is the mudguards, managing to be both too tight to the tyre and too short to be effective. They will flap around, rub the tyre when caked with mud, and probably break mid ride. Rest of the bike looks solid
Actually the bottle and strap is wank

Oh shit the ovalised chainring

some mud and pedals on that I could be happy

Front definitely too short to be on a rigid fork. I use one on my mtb but that’s got a sus fork on it and it keeps the seals clean(ish) but not much more.
The rear is probably the most effective mtb style mudguard I’ve used, way better than a clip on to the seatpost style one but obv nothing on a full guard.

Good to know. In heavy clay or chalk mud, it looks like you'd get alot of build up around the wishbone, and rubbing inside the mudguard. Admittedly its a tricky thing to get right

I don’t know that it looks much closer than mine and I’ve not had any problems.
My front is a lot tighter and it doesn’t really clog up either actually so it could be that knobblies drag the mud through and fling it out whereas slicks deposit it and it clogs?

That brake hose is a wonder to behold; it's the fabulous icing on an incredible cake

gravel tubs. I swear by FMBs but only in situations were you can walk to the end of the ride when the puncture occurs

Needs a tweak, but don't mind if I do.
Is it one from Ultra romance?
