Which generation?

F30. This one
On paper should be perfect for me especially with the folding rear seats. Currently drive a Giulietta Cloverleaf which I do like but it let me down recently (fuel leak), has done 114k and needs a clutch so I am thinking to change it before any more big bills. But I am really struggling to find something that inspires me

OK let's hive mind it, find me a car :)
Budget 12k, needs to have 4 seats, fairly fast and fun, reasonably compact (on street parking), fit a bike in it (with wheels off), not crazy mileage.
I suspect the answer might be Golf Gti

How compact is compact
The 330d saloon felt a bit big tbh. Golf is probably the right size
-

Golf R
The ones in budget are too high mileage

1 series coupe, might get a 135i in under budget but more likely a 125i.
VW Scirocco ... like a Golf but more atrractive (I think).

What about a pug 308 GTi 270?
Fast, bigger boot than a golf and comes with plenty of its own issues. 🙃 But I'm sure they are cheaper over there due to the usual french depreciation. Mines been great, although I did need a new clutch and front struts soon after I bought it. Previous owner must have liked slipping the clutch. They need new spark plugs every 15-20000 miles and the brakes can be spendy if they haven't had new discs yet. Front rotor is 380mm and genuine items are very expensive. luckily there's alternatives now. Here's mine, I've put 18" wheels on to improve pothole survival and cheaper tyres. The standard is 19.

Focus ST? I loved mine and would get one again straight away. You could get a great condition one for less than you budget.
