  • does anyone else miss rapha using the camelback jet valve things on their bidons? i find the tacx/specialized bidons every brand seems to use a bit crap (they take longer to regain their shape after taking a drink)

anywhere still making cool bottles/bidons with the camelback valves?

  • Nah the camelbak ones leak like mad.
I like elite the best, specialized are ok though. They do a range of caps, some of which are better but no brands spec anything but the bog standard one.

  • If anyone is interested, I'll have a pair of Sim Works Human Mushroom bottles for sale soon, new/unused, smoke clear, printed on Spesh bottles, 650ml size.

    Sold

  • £20 posted UK for the pair.

  • I'll take them if you'll post to @spotter

  • I can post to @spotter, won't be able to get to the PO til Saturday though, hope that's ok?

  • Depends on when he is shipping my parcel. I'll pm you. Thx

  • Bike-components have Camelback Podiums in stock

  • Steer clear of the spesh jet valve tops, the ones you have to squeeze the bottle to drink. The valve is so tight they stay collapsed for ages after a drink, and I always seem to swallow a bunch of air. Awful.

  • Where did you get the smoke clear ones from?

I’d be interested if @Hulsroy doesn’t take them.

  • I didn't end up buying them. My courier was too quick.
They are great tho. I have them in the gold edition

  • @stelfox beat you to them.
Think I got them from Freshtripe.

  • No worries. Freshtripe don't seem to do that colour any more, looks like I'll just get some more Podiums.

  • Thought I’d been doing a pretty good job of keeping the caps/valves/etc for my Purist bottles clean but eh…🤮

  • How'd you get it out? Destructively? Always wondered about the state of mine, they go through the dishwasher every now & then so assume okay.

  • Kinda destructively aye. Pulled and twisted. I reckon it could go back together but the plastic cap but has got some white stress marks in it now so might not last too long. Also I don’t want to put it back into use!

No dishwasher here and I hate the taste/small of Milton so just been washing them by hand, not using much detergent but plenty of hot water and felt like I was doing ok. Between us we have another 4 I think and none of them are like this. Dunno if I left this one with stuff in for a couple days or what.

  • So, bought some Camelbak podiums, lo and behold they rattle in all my cages. Three different one tested: Specialized rib cage II, Decathlon's Triban 500 bottle cage, and Elite Paron.

I should have read recent reviews of it. Would not recommend.

  • You think an ultrasonic cleaner would have done the job? I’m worried now.

  • Maybe. I ended up getting some Milton and giving them a good soak but it made no difference.

  • Forum-approved 750+ml water bottle these days? Elite looks like the best options from a cursory google
