Is the only thing holding the bag the rubber straps through the loops on the bar?
-
• #2353
I’m sure that bag would sit on it, don’t know how you attach though… condor have them in stock if you wanna try opening person
Yep, the clamps can tolerate quite a bit of variety in position from what I found, so you’d prob manage with tapered bars like those

Mainly held by the two buckles on the front (looped through the rack) and the webbing strap on the back of the bag, passed around the rack bars. The rubber straps seem to keep it from wobbling, mine aren’t really taking any load. Has been fine when ridden then past few days

Cheers. I'm weighing up a front rack/cradle type thing. Its between the Carradice, Jack the Rack and the Aeroe Spider.
Trying to pick the right one first time.

Thanks!
Good tip re Condor, bought some of my Carradice stuff there, always a nice shop to go to (unless it's changed, my last visit is probably pre Covid...) -

So who has bought a handlebar Bagman? Thoughts?

Is it difficult to fit a saddlebag support? I've only ever used my Carradice bag with a proper rear rack. I do have the saddle pushed forward a bit cos I'm an old geezer who can't twiddle so its longer cranks for me. My saddle doesn't have loops either. Asking because I'm off on a long tour in June and I know the bike I want to use. Ta.

Hi
I’ve been using a super c full size and smaller audax bags for over a decadeOne of the reasons I keep going back to them is because the bagman support takes about 60 seconds to fit and less to take off- sadly every time I do it I time it!
Need about 15-20mm of saddle rail to fit
If you got a heavy load you can reinforce the bag man support with some struts that fit to a bracket that fits on seat pin or if you have them, rack eyelets but if you ride mainly road not sure really needed.
Supports well, no sway and no leg rub. Love it -

Many thanks JohnnyOnions. I'll order one after Easter and try it out. Should complement my 37 year old saddlebag nicely.
Once again, the hive mind has provided excellent advice. -

How's everyone getting on with their carradice front supports?
Reckon a Audax Super C would be saggy if not stuffed on them?

Answer my own question. I bought one, but doesn't really work on my bike as it interferes with my bell, cables etc a bit too much for my tastes.
Does hold the bag nicely though, and in lower position was good by bars etc.
Anyhoo, decided to take it off, so selling if anyones looking for one.

Anyone get one of the ltd edition 'sand' waxed canvas bags? They're off the site now :-(

First outing of the year with lad on the back, first outing with the bar mounted bagman.
Sadly it’s not really designed for my skinny bars, but works well enough combined with straps looped over the top and under the stem to prevent it tilting down too much. It’s absolutely crying out for a QR like I have on my saddle mounted one. Still, a success.

Looking good 👍🏻
Mounting it in the lower position on the underside of the bars might help give more room for hands, if you hadn’t already tried that -

Any interest in a Super C audax, but custom with red straps and flashing (done by carradice).
In excellent condition, with a sewn on Dark Arts coffee patch (just with cotton so can be snipped off if you don't want it).
Had it made to match my bar bag, but i don't really use it as it's a bit small for me, prefer the bigger sized Super C, and probably going to get an Odyssey.

Also wonder if it would fit the Super C handlebar bag... I've never used mine because I really dislike the klick-fix system it works with, that rack is much nicer! (plus can take other bags)
