  • In the long term I don't think the cordless tools are worth the hassle. I have the Mafell corded and Festool corded. If you are using a track saw you need dust extraction just to keep the blade housing clear of debris so you're going to have a hoover and power nearby most of the time amyway.

I would look for a second hand corded Mafell MT55 or Festool TS55. Mafell works on the Festool tracks and they keep their value if you come to sell them.

You are infinitely more qualified than me but I FUCKING HATE when the power cord of the track saw gets hung up on the edge of the track and I have to stop mid cut to free it. I find that this doesn't happen with the dust hose anywhere near as much. It is also very likely that if I used it more I would be more used to making sure it was in a position to not get caught when I'm about to make the cut.

  • See thats similar to my thoughts when coring a hole and the lead for the drill is in the way.

I do hate that. I get better at it if I'm doing a lot of cutting but it is very frustrating when it happens. Like DBR I have an integrated power cord on a hoover, mine has an overhead boom. That's about the best way to use the corded tools including sanders and the domino as it gets both cable and hose out of the way. Obviously not worth investing in unless you plan to do a lot of work!
