If we're doing cultural stereotyping, the problem might be that they actually don't have a sense of fun. Look at any field of endeavour in the US and you see a constant quest for more, because they are never satisfied with enough.
Exactly. Nobody is happy with anything for long. As soon as a neighbour gets a new bike/car/tv/lawnmower they want a better one.
