Anyone walked or ridden the Lairig an Laoigh and the Lairig Ghru?
I had wanted to do a loop going south on the Lairig an Laoigh and coming back north on the Ghru but fuck me, the terrain is pretty horrible for cycling from Bynack Beg/More/Barns down to the fords of Avon on the Laoigh.
I knew the Avon would be pretty full and might have been impassable, I think I could have gotten across but the prospect of the terrain continuing to be so rough made me turn back. I'd be interested to know if it does continue being so rough south of the Avon and if the Lairig Ghru is much the same or if it's a bit easier going? If the terrain gets better once you're past that bit I'd definitely come back later in the year and revisit it.
It was still a pretty stunning ride as a much shorter (distance, not time, I was barely able to average 5mph) out and back.
Admitttedly, I was riding my singlespeed Honzo, which was definitly not made for that kind of riding but I don't even think it'd have been much fun as a hike. Maybe why I saw absolutely noone doing so!
I've another few days up here but the weather looks to be getting a bit worse so dunno how much more riding I'll get done. I've also got my Raleigh Twenty with me which has been bossing the gravel!
