Aren't these tied to your contract and BT will want it back?

Not the retail version (which this is) it'll work on any line and BT will not ever ask for it back. It was a one off purchase from a BT shop, not obtained as part of a TV contract with BT, and so therefore does not come with the premium BT channels. Plugged into a non-BT line it will display YouView branding.

It's a bit like buying a banana from Sainsbury's, if you don't eat it, or even eat some of it, and pass it on, John James will not give a flying fck.

Be careful with this. Virgin told me I should dispose of my V+ box myself when I got a Tivo and then they fuckwanks charged me a "multi box fee" for months even though the thing wasn't operating.

It was a general statement about being careful when you dispose of TV provider kit to make sure the arseholes don't keep charging you for it.
hippy: fucking shit up, so you don't have to.
