WTD : Surly Big Dummy

Want to step into the world of long tails…

Having two boys under 5 yo with associated balance bikes to carry, which are fast becoming pedal bikes therefore less easy to strap to a rack, plus schoolruns and the like, it seems like something ‘cargo-ish’ could be a solution.

Not quite ready (££’s) to go electric/Tern etc, or a Bullitt. But now I find despite my Cyclescheme voucher being ready to unleash, Surly don’t send these to the UK at the moment.

Probably a M or L size… annoyingly a Small was on eBay this week and went for <£1000.

Anyone thinking of selling up?

what about Kona Ute, Yuba Mundo / Kombi (they prob do more..), Benno (not sure if they do non ebike vsns..?

Thanks, I’d looked at the Kona Ute but again seems to not be currently available, plus I had the impression it was a little less capable in terms of load and fittings (the Surly uses extracycle parts). Will take a look at the other options you mention.

Bump for a Big Dummy just in case any are out there. My boys are now outgrowing a trailer which did the job for a couple of years!

Seen 2 on fb marketplace. Both 1500£ ish if i remember correctly

I'd possibly sell mine but as it stands it would be quite pricey as it as a Bafang mid motor, rohloff rear wheel and hope brakes. Would be happy to keep these and sell without. Mines a medium
