  • Have they not got any refurb models that are M2 on their site. The closest thing to that is the M3 and its basically a grand more, I should maybe by that too.

  • Currently there are 9 MacBook Pros and only one is an M2 - it’s super tricked out and £5.3k so maybe it’s been sat there for months.

  • Use this: https://refurb-tracker.com/
Put in the keywords for the machine you want be it ‘32gb’ ‘M2’ ‘1TB’ etc
And it will email you when it comes in stock.

  • Loads of M2 MacBook Pros just went up but the Costco prices still seem to beat them.

£2.4K at Costco vs £2.7 for an Apple refurb.

  • New MBP ordered, that escalated quickly…

  • I think im gonna order today too, the price is good till tomorrow and Im on a 2017 15" Pro that rendering out videos now is a fuckin mare. I also think that an M2 Max compared to what im on right now will be like a cross to a ferrari!

  • Its your fault ive just ordered this, looked at geek bench tonight and comparing it to my 2017 im using hoping that I can render and knock out stuff a lot faster.

  • My gf's 2020 iPhone SE is really struggling with the battery life. Use is pretty light, mainly WhatsApp, web browsing, etc.

From what I can see the latest SE is a couple of years old and isn't that much an improvement over the 2020 one. Any ideas if there's going to be a new one soon, or should she get the 2022 one or just replace the battery in her current one? Cheers

  • I was set on a refurbed M3 pro with way less ram and storage, I had no idea Costco sold macs so glad you posted!

Very pleased I got lucky with the timing on the discount, this will be an upgrade from a 2010 mbp with no battery so it will be a different universe with the M2. I’ve had other machines provided by employers since that one but I’ll be going freelance when I move back to London in a few weeks so needed an upgrade sharpish.

  • Check the battery page in settings to see if there is an app which is draining the battery or if it’s just knackered. If battery health is around 80% or lower then replacing it will help.
No real way of knowing if there will be another SE soon. MacRumors is the place to check and suggests might be something before too long, it’s approaching the end of a cycle. https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

  • Cheers. I suspected that could be the case. Although clicking on some links on there it does seem to suggest the new SE will be a bigger form factor.

  • this looks interesting for those Mac studio users who like a instagram worthy tidy desk set up.

  • Now make a tower housing to fit a pair of the new media modules from BMD on top of each other:

  • I think I just need to succumb to rack mounts.

  • I always look at things like this and think great, but if your computer dies or you upgrade, and apple change the size (very common) then you’re just left with a very large brick that takes up loads of space.

  • Where’s the best place to sell all the apple boxes I have?

  • I'm trying to restore a VERY old ipad mini back to working again - it doesn't have to do anything other than run an OS and be able to run something like paper.io, music, etc. It's sole job will be a device that isn't connected to the world of social media and is used to help calm someone down.

I've managed to get it into factory restore mode - it's an original ipad mini from 2010s....(looks nice).

I get this message - the ipad could not be updated. an unknown error occurred (9) 0609.0000

Which i think is a way of saying "this is fucking ancient, buy a new one". Is there a way around this?

I think it's so old it needs itunes to restore it, but I don't have anything running itunes...

  • Thoughts on iPads? I want one in between jobs as any jobs I get come with a MacBook Pro, meaning if I was to buy a personal MB Pro it wouldn't get used.

Problem is I can't decide between the iPad pro Vs Air.

Main duties will be typing, life admin and possibly the need to dev (using cloud based software). Then media for when I'm traveling. Pro overkill? Get an earlier pro model? Just get the air?

  • Don’t buy anything until the event on Tuesday.

    New iPads coming.

  • How old? Basically, Apple will stop supporting older hardware after a while, so at some point you can no longer update it. I think you may have reached that point. Does googling for the error code throw up anything?

  • It's REALLY old. retro tech.

  • Good tip, I'm so out of the loop!

  • New iPad Pro looks pretty cool. £££ of course.

  • Was hoping they’d keep the same starting price, but not to be. Still the new 11’s gonna replace an iPad Pro 9.7 which has done well for the last 6/7 years. Soon to be seen in the classifieds.
