No experience, but from watching lots of youtube videos of motorbike wheels being painted I think the challenge you'll have it's a pretty big diy job. Especially as it's not a touch-up, it's a full colour change.
For a start there are four of them, and they're not small. Having tried to clean a dirty wheel when it was off before getting tyres replaced it's actually a pretty serious job to get it squeeky clean, let alone fully contaminate free.
I think you can potentially get away without removing the tyres using the playing cards trick:
I guess it depends what sort of level of finish you're after.
Looks great BTW. I've always loved the idea of one of these as a runaround.

Nice, I bought one new in 2002…1st big purchase my now wife and I made together.
She was later banned for doing 121 in it on the A1..3 months before our honeymoon. Typical as our honeymoon was largely travelling the west coast of the US…I had to do all of the driving . Pretty much nothing has changed…

Nice, very nice indeed. Man that looks great. Not battered? Difficult finding a 172/182 that hasn’t been ragged.
I used these guys to paint motorbike wheels. They did a great job with fast turn around.
I picked up a Clio 172 Cup today. Whilst a little rough around the edges it has good bones - minimal rust and no accident damage. I fancied another 182, but the Cup feels a little more special, and should be a little easier to work on.
For those that don't know, the cup was a slightly stripped back version, with no abs, aircon, leather, xenons, washer jets, auto window wipers, but with thinner glass, a wider track and some small visual changes. Apparently around 89kg lighter than a non cup. Woo.
I need to do the major engine service of Cam & Aux belt, as well as give it a proper clean, and paint the wheels silver.
Has anyone has good results painting their own wheels? thinking in terms of longevity. Otherwise, who knows of a cheap powder coating service near east London?
