• I’ve a week in the Cairngorms in May/June, staying at Braemar.

Any recommendations or tips on hikes? I’ll have a 10 year old with me who’s capable of distance and height (Lomond/ Snowdon type stuff or Suillven last year for example), but I’d avoid anything technical.

  • If you can get a lift up to Derry Lodge (or cycle), you could get into the Lairig Ghru, nip into the corrour bothy for a tea, up the devils point and even return via glen dee if you fancied a longer day.

You could also head up glen derry towards the lairig an Laoigh/hutchinson hut and bag a peak(s) on the way/way back.

  • Lairig Ghru

Or park at the Sugarbowl and get into the LG via the Chalamain Gap

And yeah, cycling to Derry Lodge is preferred. It's a 4 mile trudge. Nice scenery, but still a trudge
