  • Hope it goes well for all Manc runners, I am there too. rhb, with your local knowledge, do you know what extent you can shortcut the start process? I am coming in from the Quays past IWM tram stop heading for Warwick Road, which the official map says in the way in to the start process. It then suggests you go down Warwick Road, to Talbot Road, then back up past Tesco and just end up back at Chester Road again... so I was wondering if when I first get to Chester Road can I just turn left to go directly to the start (if I get there at the right time for my wave)? I don't need bag drop - is there any other reason to go to the event village?

You describe the purple route on my edited map here, which does sound convoluted if no bag drop although I'd ask a marshal before doing what you suggest, I guess it could be ok but I've never seen how they barrier off & manage access to the start funnel, so maybe plan on being corralled the official way and owt else is a bonus?

I'm coming from the other direction (my allotment plot is on the event map, highlighted!) I'll follow the yellow highlight and miss bag drop and know of no other reason I should go into OT/event area pre race.

I had thought about heading along backstreets/section of mile 26 to end up approaching front of the race and arriving at the start that way but it is a huge backtrack if not allowed so I figured I had best play by the rules.

Hope you have a good run too, what wave are you in?
