ThNRC Roydon - last ride of the season

OK, we're going to start off the 2024 night rides with the traditional alternative season opener (nobody fancied Surrey Hills). If last year's anything to go by it may also be the season closer.

It's flat. It might not even be raining and if we crack on we might even squeeze in a pint.

If you want to get the train, the 1928 from Liverpool St arrives Roydon at 1957.

Makes me feel quite nostalgic.

aHaha I did exactly the same thing digging out my hope light (road bike rides is generally just a morning thing). Think I might just ride the commuter with dynolights though.

I’m up for it. Need to stop nightclubbing and start cycling again, as befits my mature years.

Went to the track this morning, first time in ages. Didn’t last the whole 90 mins. Still up for this. Can’t wait!

Love those lanes in the loop bit. Lots of tailwind, the new moon. Had to work to get back, but was worth it.

No badger faceplant?
Graham absolutely rinsed me on the return leg.
Wildlife spots included a jay, heron flying overhead, more muntjac and many many bats.
Beautiful evening, slow day tomorrow I think.
The NCN section was gnarly - did it on the way back too.
69 miles all in, nice. Thanks for the roadside Spunk, it helped.
