No. Dealer warranty covers very little imo. If you are buying from a dealer, you are covered for inherent defects in the vehicle. But not wear and tear.

No. It's to cover the cost of repairs to the car if it breaks down rather than accident damage. However, as pifko correctly says, they're almost invariably not worth the paper they're written on due to all the caveats and exemptions. They're mostly useful to the dealer in any attempt to wriggle out of liability of the car blows up the day after they've sold it.
