  • could be mid 60s to early 80s

    Miko-Mercier was 1977-1981

  • That sort of knowledge is a level of detail I'll never have...

The sort of thing which would realistically help me date bikes of this era would be say, knowing when hardox rims became a thing.

  • I guess Fondriest wasn't impressed by the delta brakes

  • Deltas worked fine if you spent a few hours adjusting them after every ride.
They must have been a nightmare for pro mechanics.

Hard anodised rims afaik arrived with the Mavic SSC rims around 75. I remember seeing Freddy Maertens on a beautiful red Flandria with 28 spoke versions. The Flandria was a Colnago with Colnago panto brake levers, not very discreet.

  • Rocking what looks like a... Brooks Flite!

  • Gilles Berthoud.

  • The only Richard Sachs I've seen built for Di2.
    eBay USA.

  • That is very nice. Perfekt colour bar tape.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the brand of frame (ah, now I see it is a wheeler) and what is the fork material?

  • Great backdrops!

  • Very well thought out finishing kit.
Is that an elusive Campagnolo titanium seatpost?

  • Properly good. I would only move the bottle cages to the downtube

  • It‘s an even more elusive Flite Ti Post. Great build as usual!

  • It's an interesting fork; thought it was steel the first time around, but zooming in I can see it's carbon. Very pretty, but I'd guess a little hefty given the 1" steerer is probably steel, and a pound was considered light for a fork in those days...

Rather slender for a carbon fork; the straight blades look great with the dropped seatstays on the frame.

  • I am with you, the silver skeleton single pivot is a work of art. Though this group was pre-skeleton and there was not single pivot option.

  • Thanks all !

@elllguapo fork is an unbranded full carbon, got it NOS from a retired bike shop owner. It’s quite similar to a Look HSC2..

    @Sig_Arlecchino good eyes 👀

@PhilDAS I don’t know why I feel more comfortable with the bottle cage on the seat tube, I may upgrade with a titanium one..

@Julien1A going 10 speed with the latest Veloce silver brifters is the next step, Skeleton calipers are on the shortlist too..

  • @hacha What a picture, two so sleek machines. Glider is LS4? Always wanted to try that.

  • Thanks... never noticed they were different!!! Thank you!

@hacha: If you are not based in the UK, I know where to source a brand new pair of silver centaur skeleton (double+single), or alternatively I have an ok used pair.

@rw101: I have no clue about gliders, but googled the registration and it seems to be: Schempp-Hirth Nimbus 2

  • Tnx. In my day Nimbus 2 had and probably still has a rep as a bit of a handful. Stick with the bike for now.
