  • aah - nice, thanks. They're cool. I'll take a look around Etsy

  • I've been really tempted, as they seem such good value for such an interesting tool, but I know that once I exposed my self to having to clean resin up, that'd the last time I'd bother using it

  • don't get me wrong they are very cool, but until you are stood in front of it and have to use it unless you completely skipped any kind of research into safe practices it's quite overwhelming and a little bit scary.

also slicing and supporting stuff is quite involved. i think failures are much more common on the resin side of 3d printing as the physics and chemical aspects for a successful print are quite precise.

  • Interesting experience… What machine were you using out of interest?

  • saturn 2. fwiw i printed a calibration tool for it out of the box and it was pretty much bang on and my first print was almost perfect but i still think it's not a hobby to be undertaken lightly. i know multiple people who regretted buying one after a couple of uses.

  • Even manually cutting the base blocks of 3rd party resin aftermarket is bad enough, printing the stuff must be horrendous!

  • Thanks for sharing. I’ve just ordered an FDM printer, buy ummed and ahhed for a while.

  • Just see a really long and high budget advert for warhammer on telly! Didn’t realise it’d grown so much recently, knew covid gave them a boost but wow.

  • My mate who is into trading said in the pandemic their share price skyrocketed, and found it hilarious hearing the city boys try to describe their business to invest it “like it’s orks but toys or some shit? It’s making loads of money but we don’t know why?”

  • LoL

    Why? Because people dream.

  • I entered a painting comp at my local Warhammer store. Was there early on the day so only saw a couple of other entries but they were all really good so wasn't expecting anything. Couldn't make the voting later in the day so went in Saturday to collect my entries to be told I'd come 4th in both categories with only a few votes between me and 3rd! Quite chuffed.

  • Great work. Love the bases.

  • Nice and smooth that.

  • Thanks all! Finally finished the combat patrol I was given back in September so time for a new project...

Unfortunately I've fucked my airbrush this eve and sheared off the threaded part of the nozzle trying to strip it down to clean. Anyone recommend a half decent and affordable one? I have the voilamart kit someone suggested from Amazon so would rather go for a slightly better airbrush given how easy this was to destroy.

  • You cant go wrong with iwata.

  • I absolutely recommend the H&S Ultra 2024. The nozzle pulls out making it so easy to clean

  • Have a look at the Mr Hobby range (GSI Creos). All the quality of Iwata for far less money, even cheaper if you order from Japan

  • these look so good, would love to hear your painting process, is it rattle can white? airbrush? v smooth

  • oh these are excellent, lovely gradients on the panels

  • Airbrush, vallejo ghost grey primer then vallejo wolf grey base coat. It's basically the same colour as Citadel Grey Seer. The vallejo stuff does brush on Ok but needs a few coats to be smooth, airbrush is much easier.

  • Thanks, the warsuit panels were the easy and quick part (airbrushed), everything else and the marine were all done by hand. I seem to have a lot more patience for blending than I used to!

There was a recent White Dwarf with a pic of a dreadnought that had deep purple fading into blue panels which gave me the idea. My execution is nowhere near as good as the one in the mag so still a way to go!
