That looks very special. Nice!

Huge fan of how the skinny headtube, the quill stem and skinny tires play together. Criminally underrated detail!

Looking forward to seeing that

very elegant.
A stepped ferrule (https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/cables/jtek-stepped-chrome-ferrules-37-mm-insert-for-5-mm-gear-outer-pack-of-4/) and trimmed rear brake cable away from perfect.
What are the bars? the curve is lovely

Thanks I have one of those ferrules on but think the cable housing might be a bit long . I shall fine tune😃
Bars are nitto noodles 46cm c/c -

Call me biased but there’s nothing wrong with this at all 😊 I particularly enjoy the short-ish stem to wide bars combination!

Thanks apparently this is what the frame was like when built in 1988:
“ ok, I have found the worksheet for 8815, it looks like the frame has been modified over the years, which is quite normal for owners who keep the frames for along period of time.
We supplied the frame in early 1988.
The original specification would have been as follows:
Cantilever brakes
27 x 1 ¼" wheels
Reynolds 531ST tubing
Campag long dropouts with spacing for 6 speed
Original colour was Golden Yellow with red lug lining.
The cantilever bosses must have been removed at some point, maybe when the wheel size changed to 700c. The front and rear dropouts have also been changed to the stainless steel versions.” -

I really liked the Woodrup, but I have to say that this Argos might be even better. Good job!

Damn thats nice!!! Great paint
-
• #63
It is in excellent condition- nice fade to the paint and painted decals.
Looking at the Argos price list when it was altered / painted it must have cost around £800 in today’s money! -

That's a gorgeous bike !

Need some top tips regarding frame pumps - the frame has a peg on the NDS seat stay.
Are silca pumps worth it?

The Silca is an awesome pump. Topeak Masterblaster does about as good a job for £25 though and might play nicely with your frame.

To have this sort of history for it is amazing
-
• #68
I’m thinking of spending the £ on a matching seat post and a lot less on the pump!

Very true - Argos were really helpful. I will see if I can get a copy of the original build sheet when I ride it over to their 50th Anniversary day in June

Zafal is dreadful in my experience but would highly recommend the Topeak Masterblaster.

That's a lot of money for a Kalloy post with simworks on it.... Just kidding, would look great with the stem

• #72
I know what you mean though 😂

It's a Nitto S65 with a different logo isn't it? Nice bike, I like the subtle fadez.

You’re right i think, seem to be sold out everywhere

Lovely build! Before you splash on the matching seatpost, maybe try to visualize it with silver (possibly ti) finishing kit. Might help accentuate the VMB vibes you got going on with the silver hubs and spokes.
Wow. Can't wait to see more
