    I learned today that shooting monotone in raw just shows colour in software...

    Dunno if it's better to Raw / edit, or just use JPEGs with monotone.

  • For the few months I've been taking photos I've done monochrome / jpegs. Though literally tonight I was chatting with a much more experienced photographer who said I'm better shooting raw and converting.

    I think it's personal taste. I know for me, so far, if I know I'm shooting BnW I look at things differently and take better pictures because of it.

  • I always have the preview screen black and white as it helps get idea of what you will have at the end but shoot raw and convert it later. You have more control over the outcome with raw if you’re happy doing the work in post to get it where you want.
