  • Thanks. 😚 Lori and the puppy were both sick yesterday, I had to cancel band practice. This made me very happy!! πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ‘΄

  • Cosplay hell

  • There are quite a few books on how cholesterol is some magic (it is) and basically just take the statin. Can do you a deal on lots of simvastatin if you want.

  • The doctors aren't prescribing any statins as they don't think there's an issue.

They are dealing with my BP though. Now on 10mg of amlopodine and its having no effect apart from have had nose bleeds every day for 5 days...

  • 46 and despite being reasonably fit and healthy, seem to ache after strenuous physical activity. Is this normal?

  • I always did! It just gets worse with age.

  • Anyone else tuck their t-shirt into their jeans?

I've noticed that if I don't I notice the draft on my back.

  • Elasticated trouser waistband you mean?

  • At 45yo elasticated waistband with a cord is pretty much what i look out for theses days (and for the last 10 years) when buying casual trousers. Also tucking t-shirts in to avoid drafts on colder days

  • I bought some elasticated waist cords.
The marketing made them out to be trendy β€œaction pants” to be worn with a moustache and a teeny weeny little beenie.
I just look like an old fart in old fart trousers
    Very comfortable though

  • Also tucking t-shirts in to avoid drafts on colder days

Vests for tucking in, t-shirt can flap loose still then. (Replying to @hugo7 too really I guess)

  • Vest and tank top or gtfo, as they say in M&S

  • Anyone else tuck their t-shirt into their jeans?

Yes, and some youngsters at work commented.

  • Anyone else tuck their t-shirt into their jeans?

Jeans, yes. Boxers, no. Why on earth would you not?

  • Vest tucked in, t-shirt out.
    Braces between

  • I've been too ageist about myself to contribute to this thread before. But now I have DVT. Is it on topic? Perhaps it belongs in a geriatric thread?

  • Tucked my jumper in the other day and my daughter won't let me forget it

  • DVT can be genetic factors though so doesn't matter how old you are.

  • Phew.

I'm trying to see it as a luxury accessory. It's all about long haul flights and expensive socks.

  • Depends if you've had more than one. If you have more than one they might test for genetic factors. I got mine flying back from the 24hr Worlds after taking sleeping pills and having the best flight ever... until a week later I had DVT. Stupid fucking body. I had another, with no apparent reason and then found out mine are somewhat genetic, combined with the biggest veins any mofo has ever seen and a seated disposition...

  • Somehow I appear to be around 4 cm shorter than I thought I was. I was sure I was around 186cm or 6'1'' for ages. Measuring myself recently it's more like 182-184cm (6'). Am now 44. Surely middle age doesn't involve such loss in height?

I've always ridden 58cm bikes, but have been finding them too large, so kind of makes sense. Annoyingly might have swap out the frames on my bikes.

  • It's like reverse chain stretch, you'll get used to it. πŸ™ƒ

  • Start yoga to grow back to where you once were.

  • Annoyingly might have swap out the frames on my bikes

    I call that a win

  • It'd be nice to think this works. My experience of starting yoga in middle age (a few years ago now), is that it's amazing, feels brilliant, and is really good for me physically, mentally, spiritually.

    Highly recommend it.

With regular practice, I worked out that you are your age. You can make major gains in mobility, strength, flexibility, and breathing. But you have to adapt to your age and accept you’ll never move like you were in your 20s again. You work this out pretty quickly, to be fair. Like, in the first session if you're paying attention.
