I used one of these https://www.toolstation.com/rechargeable-nicad-battery-pack/p58155
and a pair of 3.5v cob led drips 60mm long with 10 leds on each (We had some laying around at work) as marker lights on our old bike trailer. Worked pretty well and I borrowed the charger as well. -

Yeah I had this thought that it may be AC not DC and therefore need a rectifier. My Dynamo light is an exposure revo so it sounds like I could possible splice in an additional spur to power the side lights?

How do these recharge? Looks like they might be worth exploring

I just plugged it back into one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/4lite-indoor-outdoor-maintained-or-non-maintained-emergency-rectangular-led-bulkhead-white-3-5w-167lm/135gg#product_additional_details_container as they contain the battery, charger and a strip of cobs, they run as is for about 2hrs, but with the strips I found at work more of a glow than a bright light they last a lot longer.

Tyres with reflective strips?

Got those too (marathon plus) but on an Omnium the wheel is tucked under the front of the rack so it’s well hidden (or at least feels that way) especially when loaded a-la first picture. Maybe I’m overthinking it, just feels a little exposed side on, and it’s mostly country roads/dimly lit roads rather than the bright lights of London in cycling along

I had one of these strapped under the front of the rack on my omnium

They look pretty neat, thanks for sharing :)

Yeah, this could work. You'd have to double check but i think it's an EIAJ-02 plug type. If you're handy with a soldering iron you could make a two female > one male splitter and use that?
Also if you're not handy with a soldering iron, these things are amazing:

Where were you when I needed these earlier! 😂 I’ve now got large quantities of heat shrink and crimped connectors for a variety of tasks but these would have been great

If I wanted to sell my bullit (Bafang conversion, ply box etc etc) - what would I get for it?
-
• #13588
(gasp) why would you want to do that??

Shame and embarrassment from the passenger mainly.

Talk to me about converting a standard hybrid to e bike for a teenager with requirements.
-
• #13591
I’m after a rough idea of “what I’d get” I’m not selling if I can avoid it.
-

I would say £2500 to £3000, as a realistic figure. I see some native eBullitts come up on eBay occasionally but the sellers want stupid money for them and they seem to take an eternity to sell.

Ok. Thats worth thinking about.

What do you mean by requirements? I would think that Swytch would be the easiest solution for a normal hybrid bike.

They get super stressed easily is the best way to describe.
How much is switch? -
• #13596
Switch is way easier to install for sure, my wife has it on her bullit.

No dramas- they’re a perfectly competent cyclist. Just throw in pre and post swim nerves/exhaustion plus traffic management skills/worries and then throw in anxiety about being seen riding a bike / plus the anxiety of it being night etc etc and it can become a hot mess.

There's an unused Switch on the edf today

My workshop has had a load of problems with Swytch stuff. It seems a bit unreliable to be honest. Providing the bike doesn't have thru axles, I really like the Boost kit. Much simpler, more reliable and they have available UK stock.
I have, I did it by using an exposure head light as it supplies the rear light in DC, using a buck converter to step up the voltage to 12v.
Dynamos generate AC, so you'd have to use a bridge rectifier to convert to DC otherwise. I bought a couple from ali express to give it a go but never got round to it.. I'm not 100% or will work because of the low output of the dynamo and the losses in converting to DC
