One difference I found is it is easier to nip into a town etc on the bike, on foot more important to plan ahead a bit. The weight I didn't have a problem with, took cycle touring stuff fine.
Thanks that’s a good point. I’m not sure about route yet but I’ll definitely keep this in mind
It's also liberating that you can get on bus or train when you need without worrying about the bike!
