No, I just put my serial number in and it said free replacement.
I've got my new one now. It's a refurbished version of the same.

Yes there seems to be some stuff, but it's hard to make sense of it without reading dozens of forum posts. Probably a known issue as they immediately offered a replacement when I put my serial no in.
