I just plugged it back into one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/4lite-indoor-outdoor-maintained-or-non-maintained-emergency-rectangular-led-bulkhead-white-3-5w-167lm/135gg#product_additional_details_container as they contain the battery, charger and a strip of cobs, they run as is for about 2hrs, but with the strips I found at work more of a glow than a bright light they last a lot longer.

I used one of these https://www.toolstation.com/rechargeable-nicad-battery-pack/p58155
and a pair of 3.5v cob led drips 60mm long with 10 leds on each (We had some laying around at work) as marker lights on our old bike trailer. Worked pretty well and I borrowed the charger as well.
