  • Not in black, and probably not from Amazon though.

  • It's never gonna be brill, but pulling out that horrible sealant job and re-doing it properly will be 80%. of it sorted.

  • Didn't think you could do that under PD, but it's a neat idea, presuming the single run of guttering on the original pitched roof can take all the water off it.

  • I feel PD is a bit of a joke. Our builders didn’t not follow our plans, every single loft I have seen round here has a raised roofline and the one to my right, built by a single guy who spoke no English doesn’t look to conform to much reg wise, yet the council doesn’t do anything?

  • The guttering at the front has been upgraded to a #thicc, turgid baton.

There are also loads of terraces where 2x, sometimes 3x, houses all share the same single down-pipe without issue... at least, that's what I told myself to justify this. I have no idea what I'm doing.

  • Will resealing it possibly result in the same thing if it's just sat in water constantly?

  • Good shout! Thanks

  • You got this. After meeting you I’d trust you with most things.

  • Could try anti mould sealant.

  • Have to say your builder is a complete doofus. No fall and a rusting surround. In a shower? Jeeeze.

  • Just put packers under rather the tiles at the back, like a row of 3mm upvc window packer things

  • IIRC poor Bobble had a lot of bad fortune from a criminal builder

  • Thanks.
It's because I would dread the idea of getting those tiles out and find out what's lurking behind and then trying to make something nice.
I have bathroom and kitchen done by someone with what seems the same level of competence and care as @bobble, everything I do makes me want to smash it all out as stuff makes no sense.
Just new silicone was a nightmare because the gaps/corners all looked like that corner on the picture. Hanging a new basin, new kitchen worktops, everything is annoying.

  • Great idea. Stainless would be good. Presumably you could change the size of the cut out if needed. What size is it now? Do you have spare tiles?

  • Yeah, eventually. Good sealant will stand up to it longer. Wipe it out when you are done.

  • Yeah, in most circumstances it should be fine, and in those when it's not, most guttering arrangements will struggle (we have some shared gutters, and they overflow when things get bad, but it's like 3-4 times a year, so not worth doing anything about).

  • Waltham forest don't gaf about people taking the piss out of the planning laws.

Stop your car within half an inch of a box junction however and they'll come down on you like a ton of bricks (I recently had to take Waltham forest to a tribunal about such a thing risking £130 and I'm still very pissed off about it)

  • I beg to differ when it comes to 'conservation areas' :/

  • and that isn't my fancy name for a junction box

  • Our rear downpipe does duty for two houses in one direction and one in the other. I'm plumbing in a 200 litre water butt and hope it to be full a lot of the time.

  • Thanks.

  • Conservation areas are worth protecting. I live in one. No problem with it really.

Leyton high road et al is a shanty town so it's no wonder it's a free for all. Nothing to protect tbf.

  • feel free to check out the job waltham forest have done of protecting this conservation area...
