Beware on the Rocky mountain that it has an XT derailleur (nice) but SLX shifter and SunRace cassette, (not so nice). The fork (RS 35) is also not as good as the Pike. Fine for casual stuff but doesn't have the adjustability and plushness that a Pike will.
Thanks. I researched each of the components last night, and like for like the Whyte seemed slightly better to me. I also like the sound of the geometry on it. I very much plan to try and find some stuff to bomb down or jump off, rather than bike pack.
