  • I'm with First Direct. If you go into most HSBC branches, they have a machine that you just put your debit card into then pour money into it and it deposits it straight into your account and spits out a receipt.

The last time I did it, it added up to £90.

    Edit: ^ What adoubletap said....

I don't recall seeing a machine like this but I don't go to banks unless I absolutely have to. Also, it's a 2min walk vs. a 20min walk and the shoe leather vs. time vs. tax offset vs. lack of hydration analysis ruled banks out.

  • Oily fish on pumpernickel.

  • lunch!

today's homemade special will be leftovers of last night's chana masala

it'll be lovely, i'm sure but I already know that due to my crappy food flask it'll be disappointingly lukewarm when lunchtime comes. sadly my office has no kitchen or microwave. is anyone using anything they'd recommend?

  • This is the one I've got. I've used it regularly for lunchtime soup and it works. Fill it with boiling water whilst your soup/chana masala is heating up in the microwave, pour water away, fill up with lunch... just about still piping hot 4/5 hours later.

  • ...Also, with it being stainless steel it washes really well, no stains or lasting odours, particularly handy when most of my lunches - and your chana masala (just realised my girlfriend got that cook book for Xmas. Yay!) - contain yummy colourful things like turmeric. :)

  • thanks! much appreciated. good point on sticking with something stainless too.

  • Lunchtime in Milton Keynes sucks ass. Is there anywhere here which isn't a chain?

  • This is the one I have https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermos-Stainless-King-Food-Flask/dp/B001ET6P9Q/ which has my lunch still too hot to eat when you pour it out come lunchtime. TK Maxx often has them cheap.

Your issue may be that you need to pre-heat your flask (or it may just be crappy). Fill it with boiling water five minutes before putting your food in to make sure it starts hot.

  • thanks! gonna pop into a tk maxx this week and see what they've got. glad to see you rate the thermos one, it's one I've been eyeing up.

i have been preheating but just realised the problem could be underfilling the flask. the one i've been using is 1l and i've only been using 2/3 of it at most. downsizing will help a lot i expect!

  • Chip sandwich with cheese and sriracha mayo for lunch today. This is why I'm not posting in the weight / fat loss thread.

  • That looks tremendous.

Never knew this thread existed - fucking love a sandwich.

My go-to lately has been wholemeal toasted pittas stuffed with hummus and Zatar with a heathy load of thinly sliced red cabbage that’s been doused in lemon juice and Aleppo chilli flakes.
Tastes a bit like a shawarma but without the meat and takes about 3 mins.

  • Cheesy wedges in a bun, today
