  • The curse of San Marino hits again 😬

  • lol, me too... it was very strange... domain hijack? but I've still got it paid through 2025.
maybe an XSS got through and somehow redirect things? but no, I built this and I know what's possible.

in the end it's CNAME flattening, and the fact that microco.sm was on Cloudflare as well as http://www.lfgss.com and microco.sm was deleted this morning, hence it not only being cached but also redirecting to a domain parking page.

  • It's always DNS

  • Googling the forum yesterday to see if there was any chat about the outage really made me realise how badly we are looked upon by folks on other forums. I found bike radar, pistonheads and retrobike threads about how unfriendly we are. I always thought the “friendliest forum on the Internet” thing was just sarcastic/ironic banter.

  • bike radar, pistons and retrobike

Aye but those guys are all cunts innit

  • Haha, bike radar and pistonheads (corrected now) I’ve no idea about, retrobike is a definitely a funny place/bunch. I use it a bit and there’s definitely a lot about i like better about here.

  • To be fair, all those threads are from back around 2010 when…well…maybe they had a point?

There’s a mumsnet thread from 2023, but it’s pure transphobe conspiracy so they can get fucked.

  • Looks like microco.sm (at least for me) is hijacked again? Nameserver appears to be:

    - - - a:microco.sm

     1 sm.cctld.authdns.ripe.net 193.0.9.110 NON-AUTH 89 ms Received 2 Referrals , rcode=NO_ERROR  microco.sm. 86400 IN NS ns1.parkingcrew.net,microco.sm. 86400 IN NS ns2.parkingcrew.net,
     2 ns2.parkingcrew.net 76.223.21.9 AUTH 10 ms Received 1 Answers , rcode=NO_ERROR  microco.sm. 600 IN A 104.247.81.53,
    LookupServer 130ms

  • I can't figure out the notifications settings, can anyone help?

I want to be able to only get email notifications for private messages, and for mentions. It seems that I'd previously turned off notifications globally, so I turned it back on again. Now I have the "Enable Notifications" tick box checked, but all the other subsections are unticked. When I try and turn on one of the notifications (e.g. @mentions) then it unticks itself when I hit "save changes".

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • Ah, either latest iOS update or switching to using profiles in Safari has brought back the input focus bug. What was the fix?

  • Deleting saved passwords I think

  • Yeah, if you have a saved password for lfgss from before the move to oauth then remove it

  • Is there a way for me to search for specific words that the forum doesn't think I mean?

I'm searching comments for 'animator' to see if anyone on here works in that field that I could hire.

But the results are all 'animal'.

Have tried '"animator"' (adding quotation marks) as I might try on Google/other. I presume it just searches for matches in the first 5 letters or something?

  • Images are (for me) loading super slowly- is this a forum thing or a Singapore thing?

  • No issues in North London.

  • I have been experiencing the same in the uk

Very slow to load most images and posts even without uploads are taking 30secs sometimes when replying

    Chrome on iphone 15

Edit: this post was pretty instantaneous though

  • Not sure. Linked images hosted externally to LFGSS load very fast, images hosted on LFGSS take forever.

  • Southern rail doesn't seem to like lufguss. This is the second time I've noticed this while being on a train and using their WiFi.

  • Use your data allowance, you cheapskate!

(Seriously, there's nothing that @Velocio can do about this issue without expending a lot of time and effort to resolve it, as he'd need to persuade the WiFi service provider to remove the lfgss domain from their blocklist).

  • I thought it was a Cloudflare side block, presumably lots of abuse from the train free WiFi.

Mobile data isn't always available where train WiFi is, for example in the Moorgate tunnels on Great Northern (also part of the GTR franchise).

  • It could well be. I'd imagine that would make Velocio even less likely to do anything about it.

  • Yeah this is an LFGSS issue rather than trains. Think it was to do with blocking LLM bots from accessing our rich text archives.

Using a VPN gets around it.

  • Use your data allowance, you cheapskate!

How did i know this was going to be the first comment :-)

  • 504s for two days here in down under. Was that just me?
