The fb account could be legit, but recently compromised 🤷

I guess they're getting that £150 from about 30 different people at the same time though

My other half came across this exact scam recently for a YoYo buggy. Very elaborately cloned account doing the same London road name ploy. Almost identical communication to this. I did some digging and found they had pulled the photos they were using from a sold listing on eBay from a few months prior. I also found the legit account they were pretending to be. Also, they made no effort to change the location when it was pointed out to be wrong. I figure the false location is to attract people who definitely can't come and collect and therefore seek out a bank transfer/postage solution.
So, 100% a scam and to be avoided. It may even be the same person.
FB made little to no effort to investigate when we reported the account and listing. They came back saying there was nothing wrong with it.

The Internet has revealed to me that midges weigh about 1/8000 of a gram, can't fly in winds over about 6mph, don't go over about 1500ft in elevation, have the fastest beating wings in the world at up to 1000 beats a second, Scotland has up to 200 trillion of them in peak season, they are drawn to darker coloured clothing and something something ketones, but not a fucking sausage about midge top speed or range (on a still day with no wind assistance or hindrance, yadda yadda as if etc)
Frankly Elon Musk should stop all this Mars bollocks until we've got all these basic questions answered.
Anyone know?

250 000 tonnes for those who were wondering, or the equivalent of about 3.3 million humans. Which would be about 60% of Scotland human population.

This has made my day, thank you. If any of this midgemathics is wrong, please keep it to yourself.

midge top speed
If they can't fly in winds above 6mph you imagine they'll struggle to fly faster than 6mph in still air too.

Fully laden top speed?

• #121386
Range is infinite. They will never stop hunting you.

Leaving my running watch in the hands of my toddler for 2mins has resulted in the bracket for the strap snapping. Meaning its not possible to replace the strap.
What would be the best glue/resin to try and fix it back together?

Clean it up and tell Garmin it failed while on a run. They'll likely send you a new/refurbished one.

I've given up on FB marketplace. I'm sure there are good deals to be had but there are so many scams on any product you want to buy that it's mostly pointless. I saw fake listings of powermeters even, which I would have thought were niche. Pretty tedious to comb through all the ads that just have sketchy website links in them too.
It's slow, glitchy and has no way to filter out profiles made this year or without any photos or friends as well.

I did wonder that. As they clearly seem to love Scotland I'd have thought by now they'd have evolved to fly a bit quicker than that and be granted more air/feasting time.
Or maybe they should just HTFU and stop being so control freaky about stability, direction and control, daddy long legs don't seem to give a fuck about that.
Was just trying to gather more data ahead of upcoming trip. So far it looks like I'll be praying for wind, dressed like the man from Del Monte, camping above 1500ft, and any time below that altitude has to be spent running or cycling away at a as yet underdetermined speed, but if those fuckers can only do 6mph I'm confident I can smoke them.
On reflection an English man dressed like the man from Del Monte may deter the midges from chasing, but might tempt a few locals into the hunt......dilemma.

So this landscape is completely infested with midges but no mammals.
What percentage of midges die without ever having tasted sweet English blood?

If you dodge the midges remember the Keds
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipoptena_cerviWhich completely freak me out
And of course the Ticks

If I were you I’d stay within the M25

• #121393
It's infested with deer too, they have no natural predators so their population is increasing at an alarming rate (though not from a midge perspective).

Apparently duct tape works pretty well

They don't care, they're all permanently pissed from drinking Scottish blood

I’ve eaten my dinner whilst walking, quite fast, around the campsite in Torridon to avoid the midges. Torridon may be the most midgy place ever.

Thanks for this. Has confirmed my suspicions and I’ve bought something else from elsewhere. Marketplace really is a shithole

I was at a pub on Arran a couple of year back wanting some food and they stop serving food outdoors after 5pm as they said there would be too many midges.

Definitely. Huge numbers of the wee feckers there.

what can one buy with it?
Drugs, guns, ITAR-restricted components...but mostly fiat currency balances in conventional banks.
No!!!! Bitcoin is traceable, those transactions should be made with XMR apparently because it is anonymous and effectively crypto-cash.
Not 100% sure tbh, but have noticed scammers are playing the long game more and more - spending a while building up trust, before an ‘oh this didn’t/won’t work, could you use [other payment method]’.
It’s possible I’m being jaded/overly cynical here too, of course!
