My other half came across this exact scam recently for a YoYo buggy. Very elaborately cloned account doing the same London road name ploy. Almost identical communication to this. I did some digging and found they had pulled the photos they were using from a sold listing on eBay from a few months prior. I also found the legit account they were pretending to be. Also, they made no effort to change the location when it was pointed out to be wrong. I figure the false location is to attract people who definitely can't come and collect and therefore seek out a bank transfer/postage solution.
So, 100% a scam and to be avoided. It may even be the same person.
FB made little to no effort to investigate when we reported the account and listing. They came back saying there was nothing wrong with it.

This always fucks me off no end. @Trunkie you should definitely report it too.

I've given up on FB marketplace. I'm sure there are good deals to be had but there are so many scams on any product you want to buy that it's mostly pointless. I saw fake listings of powermeters even, which I would have thought were niche. Pretty tedious to comb through all the ads that just have sketchy website links in them too.
It's slow, glitchy and has no way to filter out profiles made this year or without any photos or friends as well.
I want to buy a buggy from FB marketplace. I've responded to 2 ads which were listed in london. when asking for their address to collect it turns out the location is their road name, not london borough.
Both have agreed to send the buggy to me. Both have replied with very similar messages. Is this some kind of scam? AI generated text? Mad coincidence?
Both items seem good value but would say averagely priced, not 'too good to be true'
