  • In a decision between a lower spec (non himod) Supersix, or a higher spec CAAD13, I’m currently leaning towards a CAAD13. Is this stupid? I want a disc brake road bike and I like how they look.

I’m assuming the more recent supersix models have similar geometry, tyre clearance, etc so it really comes down to weight and frame quality.

  • I'm a bit put off by CAADs. Yes I have a certain love for them and wouldn't rule them out completely, but have seen far too many of them dented at the top-tube owing to (I assume) the super-light hydroformed alu they're using. This is mostly on 12s and older.

  • FWIW I had a high spec CAAD13 a couple of years ago, Force AXS, nice Stayer wheels, carbon finishing kit, it was a super nice ride (once you look past the funny welds).

I have a SuperSix Evo 4 at the moment, they are really similar in many ways, geometry is identical but at the end of the day the SuperSix is just more exciting. If you buy either, you'll have a lovely time but I guess there's a reason I got rid of the CAAD13! You could always upgrade the SuperSix over time?

  • Really like my rim CAAD12 but never got on with the disc CAAD13, ended up returning it to Cannondale because of some weird fork judder. Recently built up normal mod 2021 Supersix and it feels a step up and happy i have it. 13 has mudguard mounts if that matters.
