  • Some of you may remember my top cap, steerer fork mounted light holder? The one with the half sawn through alloy bolt? Well yesterday it proved it’s worth. It snapped clean off and I was able to unscrew the bit left behind in the fork with some pliers. How did it snap I hear you ask. Did I crash? Was I involved in an accident? Did the bike fall over? No somebody’s little angel climbed on in as they asked why my pegs were so high!?! #
Anyway it saved the fork, probably.
No post incident pics I’m afraid.

    You're welcome ;)

  • .

  • Thought I might crowd source some ideas.

I managed to turn out this lump of hardened self leveling compound from my trug.

Its about 10cm high and 35cm across.

    Any ideas?

I should have put a bucket in it before it dried to make a planter, but that option is long gone.

  • Drill a large hole in it and attach 20 foot of chain to it. Attach other end to seatpost. In event of dual brake failure on a loooong fasssst descent, jettison the block as a failsafe brake.

  • Make three more, add a few logs and mammoth skins and you’ve got transportation for a family of Cro Magnons.

  • I like the FlintStones idea.

    Possibly a bit expensive though.

  • Very similar to the padstones I used under the legs of mini_com's raised playhouse. Except those were textured to look like log slices. Keep it and make more if you have any similar structures to build in future.

  • Nifty

  • drill a hole in the middle and use it as a garden umbrella stand

  • Drill two holes in it

  • I'm gonna put it out there, how about three holes?

  • Yo hackers/bodgers, anyone wants a free electric bike wheel, presumably from some cheap conversion kit. Came with a cargo bike but I've reinstated the normal leg powered wheel. No battery. Incomplete control bits. I know nothing about it, and can't test if working or not.

  • Yep I'll take! DM coming

  • Not mine, but classy.

  • Not sure if I'd call it classy, with that ugly pressed ally BMX stuff... I'd go with cute.

  • Tent pegs to stop the stove wobbling. How have I never thought of this!?

  • Oooh that's great, thanks for sharing

  • Bloody hell, so simple and so obvious!!! Thanks

  • Neat! I’ve used tent pegs to hold a stove windshield in place, but never thought of this!

  • The mounting bracket on my rear guard snapped on the way to work this morning. Cable ties and a cork to the rescue.
