My 1987 Royal which I renovated earlier this year. A rebuilt rear wheel with new spokes and rim, new front wheel, new tubes and tyres, cables, bar tape, toe clips, rear 6spd freewheel and chain. Everything else cleaned and greased. She rides really smoothly and comfortably for an old girl.

£100 ‘Granada’ down in the SW that could be a good basis for someone - looks like another non-canti Randonneur variant

It looks great!
Is it a 57cm?
-
• #57
yep that's right, 57cm. I need to add the decals I ordered from H Lloyd cycles - the previous owner removed them :(

I like this a lot, how are the bars to ride, seems like it may feel weird to handle? Wanted to try sth like this for a while.

thanks, yeah I love these bars. they are Nitto x Rivendell Choco bars. super comfortable and great for me as I have a really destroyed left elbow and shoulder which massively limits my reach. they did take a while to get used to, but I wouldn't go back to traditional drops now.

An inspiring build. I enjoyed your build thread too.
It is always satisfying to see a quality frame built by craftsmen given a new lease of life.
Perhaps we could have a thread for retro touring bikes? -

I feel like those fit nicely in the Functional thread. Old school rando bikes tend to end up there too.

I have a 58x58 Royale frame spare if anyone wants it. Repainted in flam blue.

Just the frame, no fork?
-
• #65
Potentially keen - where are you based?
-
• #66
Yes, just the frame - I'm just south of Gloucester but can post, in London monthly.

• #67
Could be keen, how much would you want for it? Is it with fork?

I have (I think) a Royal frame hanging in my garage that I was given a few years ago.
It's in pretty shitty condition but I think if I can increase the tyre clearance on it I fancy doing a kinda rando/atb type build with it.
I have a set of those Superstar wheels that were going cheap a while back, a bit modern maybe but should go ok on it. I'd maybe do a dynamo anyway.
Needs a fork, which I'll probably just build as the headtube is pretty long so finding one will de difficult.
I also have some brand new 10 speed Deore stuff, would it be really incorrect to go 1x10 on it?
I'd be doing a swept back bar, not drops.

£75 posted donation to forum as always - 58 square. Not as sparkly as the shots - to confirm no fork.

Just picked this up for cheap. It looks like it has been resprayed at some point. Any ideas on the model and/or era? I had a quick look at the bottom bracket but there was no obvious number under the years of muck. Possibly a Royal? The cat was fucking useless as usual.
