  • It’s likely 4”, most are in my experience unless someone’s really gone for it. If you have a white or chrome or whatever visible plastic fan then measure it, if it’s a bit over 10cm it’ll be 4” and if it’s a bit over 12.5cm it’ll be 5”.

If you turn off the electricity to it you can easily take the front off and see the fan and measure it.

  • I’ve fitted this one a couple of times and it’s good. Comes in different versions if you don’t want the humidity sensor for eg.

Issues I have had that made it harder than expected included 1) at my sister’s the previous fan being wired in wrong and 2) for a friend, rats have eaten the duct and the wires. But in the absence of situation specific issues it’s fairly straightforward.

  • Any tips for spotting asbestos or is it generally not worth any risk?
Want to start doing up my new office room and will start at the top so clearing this off and assessing the big crack

  • Not worth the risk. Either overboard it and get it skimmed, or get a test kit to send off to a reputable lab to get a sample checked if you’re keen to get it down.

  • You can get test kits off amazon for £20, obviously also buy a P3 mask too before scraping anything.

  • Also really annoying when you're carrying cups of tea and can't open the door with your elbow.

  • The doors in my house all have knobs but also are sprung catches that you can just push open. I don't hate it actually.

  • Knobs are cat/dog/any creature without opposable thumbs, proof though...

  • This line of discussion is useless without pics

  • Do you ask for pictures of knobs very often?

  • We're going to have knobs on our new doors, the thing to do I realised, i to have roller catches, then you can just put the door open easily without having to turn the knob if youre hands are full.

  • No. Does my clumsy wording make it that obvious?

  • Zinnsser exterior satin going to be ok for masonry or have I bought the wrong bloody paint, again.

  • +1

We're about to paint our stonework too, currently looking at Zinsser AllCoat Exterior mixed to match a RAL colour.

  • I hate paint buying with a passion.

  • It is the absolute worst

  • So do I, so tell me what to buy !!

  • I’m three incorrect purchases in already and losing will to live.

We need Airhead but feel bad atting.

  • Tbh, not Little Greene!

  • What's wrong with Little Greene? I like their colours... Is this bad?

  • When I need paint I go to the shop, tell them what I'm doing and buy what they recommend. Old fashioned but works well. A local independent paint supplier.

  • May just be me but mine failed. Prob my poor prep.

  • Same here, when it's more complicated than acrylic on wood it definitely makes sense to talk to someone.

  • The Zinnser exterior (All Coat) is great on masonry. Just need to prep masonry well for any paint to last. I use BIN Aqua to prime it these days.

  • But is satin finish ok or will it look weird?
