  • is it a bad idea to mount a front light on the side of the fork? Is the crown or even the bar a better place for visibility's sake?

  • I've been running mid-fork mounts for ages to make space for a dog basket. Haven't died.

  • Some people find mounting a light lower down to give a better contrast to potholes and other obstacles in the road. If by visibility you mean other road users seeing you, then you are best having a light on your helmet. Some evidence has shown that moving lights are much more effective than bright lights to get people to notice you.

  • I've had mine under my rack/basket for 8+ years and not died.
