Could this have been the plan, to get lots (BBC 6 o'clock news for example) free publicity for your new product launch simply be embroidering a little different coloured cross on a collar.
If it is a marketing ploy and they don’t change it back to red and white in a month or two in order to sell another one to all the gammons then they’ve really missed a trick!
Last time Nike lauched a new England there was a big media bun fight in the sun and on the telly.

Nike do have form for doing something causing a fuss to get publicity for product.
