One of the best, and free things we did was Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. Also personally Village Vanguard jazz club was a bit disappointing, really expensive, they cram you in and not my bag.

Tour at the tenement museum, then mooching round East Village. NYC museum is good (there’s a good exhibition on cycling and NY at the moment). Had a nice morning walking round Greenpoint - eating doughnuts from the Peter Pan bakery and looking back at Manhattan.

Looks like work might be sending me to NYC and i might add on a few extra days. Anyone have good suggestions for cheap accommodation and places for bike hire to check out the city on two wheels

King kog in Brooklyn if you are close to it is worth checking out. The owner has a cinelli laser hanging on the wall. The staff are very social too.

I would also only spend a day or 2 in manhatten. I wish I had seen more of brooklyn myself.
Edit: I realise I just responded to the OP which is old.

Have a trip booked to New York (staying in Brooklyn) for 5 days. Wasn't supposed to be anything cycle related but the person I was meeting may have to bail out.
I travel myself a lot and I used to drink/party but no longer, all solo travels are bike related now so NYC wouldn't be m first choice for that.
So, any advice on routes? Bike choice? Is getting across the city a shambles?

I'm off to Vermont for a week in July followed by a week in NYC, staying in Brooklyn. Has anyone got a recent list of food places (I'm vegan, my wife isn't, so all options welcome). Not fancy pants $$$ places, bonus points for mom and pop style spots.
Some may argue New York's social and cultural influence may have now surpassed it's British namesake in the North of England, but that debate aside any travel tips?
I'm going on Saturday for a week and haven't really planned anything other than going to a 'ball game' at Yankee Stadium. Not too interested in the touristy things but more interested in Aladdin's cave bike shops and late night jazz clubs.
Any recommendations appreciated.
