True, the vfr is a lovely bike, even the vtec, the annoying thing is getting the vtec valves checked needs a special tool.
Personally, for a commuter I'd get a big scooter, one of the ones that isn't nicked a lot.
Commuting by motorbike was fun apart from in traffic and then you needed a small slender bike.
Different beasts though. A 600 inline 4 sports bike is as you say 100-110hp. All of the 700-800s I'm looking at are 55-80hp (vfr800 aside)
I don't plan on going above the speed limit at all but I also don't want to sit at 70 on the motorway doing 4500rpm
