Having had both, the only difference I could spot was the rails shape. The newer version makes room for bigger seat post clamps. Whereas with the original, the rails follow the shape of the saddle nicely, hiding it almost completely when looking from the side.

Thanks for the credits, the rails are higher on the newer version. It's what makes them less appealing in my opinion.

It's also what stops the seat base from bottoming out on the seat post rail clamp when you sit on it, so swings and roundabouts
