  • This is my logic with the CBR600. Age aside, 600 is more than enough. 100-110hp is still more than some cars on the road, power:weight massive vs most cars. So, easy to overtake, easy to get in and out of trouble.

Very easy to throw about in traffic, very easy to get points on the license. Easy to sit under the little wind protection at legal speeds, and mostly comfortable while doing it.

Any engine bigger is just not worth it to me. 600’s will do distance without crying.

  • Different beasts though. A 600 inline 4 sports bike is as you say 100-110hp. All of the 700-800s I'm looking at are 55-80hp (vfr800 aside)
I don't plan on going above the speed limit at all but I also don't want to sit at 70 on the motorway doing 4500rpm

  • True, the vfr is a lovely bike, even the vtec, the annoying thing is getting the vtec valves checked needs a special tool.

Personally, for a commuter I'd get a big scooter, one of the ones that isn't nicked a lot.

Commuting by motorbike was fun apart from in traffic and then you needed a small slender bike.
