Ooof! I like!

As much as you can hate on Yeti, they hardly put out bad bikes.

I've got a bit of a soft spot - no idea why I sold this tbh. Loved it. This pic was 'as sold' so excuse the logo'd up wheels and tan wall tyres which I threw on to get it out the door..

£13k and you don't even get a motor.
What a time to be alive etc
-
• #28407
That's what all bikes cost now. Unless you go for pov spec, and then it's £10,999.
-
• #28408
£14k* and you get the previous generation etap centreline rotor.

How they spoil us!

Centerline XR don't come in 180mm, so it's that or HS2 I'm afraid.
-

Fair enough, I haven’t seen centreline-x specced on a bike for years, I thought they were discontinued.
I had two that cracked where the alloy carrier body meets the rivet. -

It was a different frame to the one used at Hardline. His mechanic switched it the week of Crankworx. I watched him hit the road gap in Maydena for testing and the landing to flat bent his pedals. He still used that same frame at Hardline though.

He was sacked over some serious allegations of 'misconduct', so I'll leave it up to you to decide what that means.

That's interesting. I wonder if he'd stuck with the Hardline frame whether the front would have come away.

"The frame that broke had been raced at Hardline and seen numerous practice runs put on it in the lead-up to the Crankworx DH finals, so it hadn't exactly had an easy start to its life."

"we have identified that there was no failure of the carbon tubes and the epoxy used to bond the frame was still intact on the carbon tube side. Unfortunately, virtually no adhesive remained bonded to the aluminum. We use a treatment on all the aluminum parts to protect from galvanic corrosion between the carbon and the aluminum. We believe there was a failure of this treatment to properly etch/adhere to the aluminum."

Yeah, just pointing out to user Sensom that the frame that broke apparently was the same one used at hardline.
My brain just can’t get round gluing frames together

Wait til you hear about aeroplanes...

My uncle was a BA pilot- and as I suspect the majority of them are, ex-RAF. He expressed the same sentiments as AndyP about glue, used properly it works.
-
• #28421
Yeah I do understand that some glues can actually be insanely strong. An example that comes to mind being the glue that was used on the fork on the Time Machine, I think going by the spec sheet, it was said that they carbon fibre or metal would fail before the bond did?
Even though I know that they obviously sufficient enough to be used in aeroplanes, it’s still hard to get past.
I guess it does indeed come down to it being done properly. Aeroplane manufacturers (maybe not Boeing) obviously have strict QC and it’s all done properly.
The problem is trusting small bike brands to be doing it properly. -

True.

New Cannondale Scalpel seat tube looks like pew pew so more 'muricans like it. They also removed the lefty and lockout for them. -

What short ish travel trail full sus should I get?
First full sus- coming off an xc hardtail
Peak District rocky, muddy, fairly tough local riding. Some moderate bike park riding with my lad.
Some long days out, may do the odd marathon still
Quite tall and heavy- 6foot4 and 92kg so may need factoring in
Something like a trek fuel?
Ideally £2k ish -

Cotic Flare or possibly Jeht would be my choice in your position.
