It depends on the cage - think some of them like Gabaruk will adjust position of top wheel somewhat and/or use different sized wheels for this reason. Mostly the longer cage is for increasing the 'range' of the RD, which happens when you add a bigger cassette and then the chain ends up too slack when in the smaller cogs.
Easiest option is deffo Wolf Tooth though.

I've swapped a DA Di2 RD cage for CeramicSpeed on my TT bike but I've never swapped to go bigger cassette.

My thoughts exactly, cage will only make it take a longer chain but only a wolf tooth would do for jumping over the 34t. Cheers all
