  • not ever changing teams either for the rest of his career, staying with A-DC until end of 2028

  • I wonder if Jasper will stay - his agent will push the ceiling for sure.

  • Somebody please stop kirby! Usual aimless drivel

  • An easy spin for R-Pog

  • Does it raise questions that sprinters stayed with the front group on the fastest ever climb of the Poggio, after the fastest ever MSR? Probably wind direction etc, etc.

  • Yes why wasn't Cavendish racing, where was McEwan? Ackermann could have placed nicely?

  • Really!? 10 years is wild heā€™s about 30 no?

  • He was 29 in January.

  • Any rider who is capable of winning the Tour of Flanders or Paris-Roubaix, is also capable of winning Milan-Sanremo. The Poggio averages 3.7%, it really isn't that hard. What makes it difficult is a combination of the distance, the narrowness of the road and the speed it's climbed at. The kind of sprinter who can hang on to the puncheurs will have the speed.

Historically it has been a sprinters race, and the introduction of the Cipressa and the Poggio was motivated by a need to make it more challenging. In recent years the size of the front group at the finish has been reducing, but if it ends in a sprint, it's rarely more than 25-30 riders.

  • Also seen some comments that if UAE had sent their "real" mountains team to support Pog it would have been even faster and pointing to the same fact re. sprinters hanging on, but Poggio isn't a mountain!

You do just need "Mr February/March" Tim Wellens headbanging for a couple of KM before disappearing for the rest of the season. Rest of UAE (looking at you Hirschi) didn't seem to do anything at the pointy end.

  • Question: what would be and where can I get odds that Pogacar will never win MSR?

  • He's doing better at Catalunya

  • where was McEwan?

    Um, commentating

  • The only consolation for the other teams is that

    a) he can't win the youth jersey
    b) Movistar will win the team award because thats what they do
    c) he was half a wheel off winning stage 1 as well

In the Cycling Podcast, when told that Pog said the ride wasn't that hard, Fred Wright said that if Pog had found it that easy, he should have gone harder up the Cipressa and maybe he'd have won.

are you prepared to wait 15 years to collect your potential winnings?

  • Pretty sure the two riders spotted earlier were pros and Strava confirms Kathrin Hammes and Sara Poidevin.

  • Great prelude for the weekend... First road race with both WVA and MvdP today, the Saxo E3 Classic

Also much looking forward to the Gent-Wevelgem women's race on Sunday, with CX stars Fem van Empel and Puck Pieterse who will be battling with the more established names of the peloton.

  • Cheering for Mads P (fellow Dane) today in the e3. He might be the odd one out compared to the two brutes that is MVDP and Wout, but forecast says rain and Mads loves the rain šŸ˜Ž

  • Don't think it's long and rainy enpugh for Mads. Mohoric' got a chance here as well, if WvA and MvdP have no helpers left in the final.

  • Wout down!!

  • MVDP casually opened 10+ seconds on paterberg
