Goodbye Honda!

I was wondering why they put it so far forward until I realised that has crew seating in it. Damn that’s a squeeze!

Nicely done - hope you got what you wanted for it!

Oof! Forgot how these feel at 15psi on the road. Could do with dropping down to a tolerable <10psi before the weekend!
Also, semi-sintered EBC’s bite like a chihuahua. Bloody hell the rear is a skidder.

Also, a nice re-up, never thought I’d find the correct one of these and the local shop in Devizes had it on the shelf!

A few more things I’d procrastinated on.
Replaced the hand guards (mounts were fubar).
Riveted the exhaust hanger (somehow worked loose, wasn’t supporting end can).
Replaced the broken jubilee clip on the exhaust guard (realised when looking at exhaust hanger).

I do like a DR, remember the good reviews the 350 got when it first came out, kind of sad I’ve never owned one

We all do it.
It is a badge if stupidity. Three times on the same day and me laughing so hard I dropped my bike on me....is the record.
It happens, live with it move on.

Is it worse when you forget?

Look at what price point the road fund licence goes up and then decide how much you are going to go beyond the speed limit. Then look at 600 and below.

This is my logic with the CBR600. Age aside, 600 is more than enough. 100-110hp is still more than some cars on the road, power:weight massive vs most cars. So, easy to overtake, easy to get in and out of trouble.
Very easy to throw about in traffic, very easy to get points on the license. Easy to sit under the little wind protection at legal speeds, and mostly comfortable while doing it.
Any engine bigger is just not worth it to me. 600’s will do distance without crying.

Different beasts though. A 600 inline 4 sports bike is as you say 100-110hp. All of the 700-800s I'm looking at are 55-80hp (vfr800 aside)
I don't plan on going above the speed limit at all but I also don't want to sit at 70 on the motorway doing 4500rpm -

My last bike, the Kawasaki Z750 was something like 115hp and yeah it was a bit crazy. I'm not looking for that.

Yea depends on the power delivery. I like the CBR, it is very civilised when you ask it to be.
I don’t like the thought of those massive heavy bikes. Just doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Oh talking of such things? If I ever did sell the CBR I’d replace it with something naked and low and light, comfortable for pillion with torque enough to carry us both. The CBR easily pulls two grown men, but your wrists remind you.

True, the vfr is a lovely bike, even the vtec, the annoying thing is getting the vtec valves checked needs a special tool.
Personally, for a commuter I'd get a big scooter, one of the ones that isn't nicked a lot.
Commuting by motorbike was fun apart from in traffic and then you needed a small slender bike.

Anyone with Z1R glove experience concerning sizing?
Looking at the Ward for casual scooter use in town and I’m right on the dividing line between small and medium. -

The thing is the other use of road miles up to the midlands and back several times a year. I'm not doing 500 miles in a weekend on a scooter 🥲

Try it, I had a silverwing for a bit, it did Brum and back comfortably every other weekend. Also had a Cagiva elefante that did Brum to west London every day for a few weeks. Till it was nicked. Big valve Ducati engine on fcr was both economical and fast. Also modified the seat

Currently debating selling this as I really don't have time and money to own two motorbikes and a historic car.
I hate the thought of selling as I really love it and the time and thoughts I have put into it.

The bikes that my dad and I have between us.
Most of them are his. You can see what it means in terms of personal ressources (money and time) to be at the end of your working life with adult kids.

Sell it and enjoy what you have time to ride.
I’ll take 2nd dibs but @MrBaklava you should take them if you haven’t sourced any. The ones I was thinking to sell were only good for the bin.
