  • I think there was ambiguity to if you plan to paint the slats?
i.e. I'd want a really good reason to do so + a lot of extra space. - loft white - is their closest to white but you'll have so much leftover id stick the bed on a secondary list and choose the colour for something else. LG have paint that 'break rules' emulsion that's fine for wood (given knotting and primed)

  • No plans to paint the slats. From what has been suggested the bed is going to be pink but it needs doing soon enough that I'll just have to think of some other things to paint pink afterwards.

  • F&B have always done a pink knotting waterborne primer,, if you want the 'getting-way-with-it' thing that may be it... I've got furniture that's never made it beyond three coats of primer - noone complains if they don't see the to-do list

  • We painted a similar IKEA softwood bed.
It's ok but loads of work and still chips. Good quality water based herbol paint.
If the goal wasn't pink I'd suggest staining, as that lasts better. Had really good results with tinted sauna paint, which is somewhere between painting and stain.
The pink primer suggestion seems very good!

  • Just buy a pink bed FFS

  • Where are you based again? I’ve got plenty of spare pink paint if you’re trying to get away without buying a whole pot.
