no reason that shouldnt also be on an angle.
It makes the countersunk headset preload bolt slightly more interesting but nothing you can't come up with a solution for.

Like the idea of the bike rolling on the front wheel give the ability to grab a handful of brake if you need to.
A couple of pics of the shit folders (dash eBike) hinge for you, although the bike is rubbish the hinge is quite clever. You have to lift the sprung retaining bolt to fold and unfold it which makes it easier. As it doesn’t want to/can’t hinge as you lock it down.

Yes! This is totally doable for me. Thanks for that

Yes mean machining a pocket that is perpendicular to the race. Will be fine but more work obviously

Someone just shared this with me on IG. Might be of use to someone on here
Definitely something I'd consider using as time is limited at Hulsroy International

You would probably know this address for Brompton mods and parts, I just leave it here:

Thank you. That is just the handle and clamp part no? Not the actual hinge.
I have been offered a hinge from a friendly person affiliated with Brompton, apparently they use an autobraze setup to attach the hinge and it would be difficult for me to reach correct temps with a torch.I might fail miserably at this, but I really want to be able to do my own hinge. I amnhoping I can do custom folders for people in the future and that the concept will be able to accomodate various wheel sizes, not just 16"

autobraze setup to attach the hinge
they used to hand-braze it though, how hard can it be?
very interested in progress - the AWOL folder was cool, but for me the reason for folding is to take on UK trains & that means 20" wheels max... have been eyeing the all-packa for a while...

If you could borrow a second pair of hands and another torch, you could heat the hinge from the back. I'm sure you could get enough heat into it but doing it with one torch while not overheating the tube would be tricky I think

Yeah, just the clamp part.
I understand, much more fulfilment making your own. -

exact same mechanism on my btwin folding 20' bike

How's that working out, forgot you had it tbh

it is good - wish it had gears though as spins out very quickly. i actually dont take it on the train and just ride it to lock at the station when i go into london. saves me ~10 min each way :-)

Yes! That is why this is going to be 16"x2.25" tyres.
Could I interest you in a 20" full sus steel folder? I would not hate building one of those...

Yes but lower top tube. More like the bike friday one I reckon.
I have been dreaming about an AMP Reasearch type suspension fork

Can I add this to the moodboard

Wouldn't something like this be nicer? It's a German:A kilo. Looks like it should be doable to cut it down to a smaller wheel size.

If you have the money I have the skills 🙏
Happy to do embark on this project fall 2024

hmmmm interesting....
can't not mention the Moulton XTB as we're here - good/bad news for me is that my inside leg is (slightly) longer than what they say is the maximum...

Ooh!
Yes definitely. The rear end hinges at 4° to lift the rear wheel so that the bike can be rolled on the front wheel holding the bars before you collapse the stem. Do no reason that shouldnt also be on an angle. Thanks
