This one is 2003 and definitely wouldn’t work without electricity, apparently due to the fuel pump. All good now. The guy who fixed it had a T4 Syncro that he said was now putting out 200bhp. Not sure exactly what he’s done to it.

Ah you have a 2.5 then. The 1.9 and 2.4 don't have an ECU. Never been able to bump a vehicle with an ECU and a low voltage battery and no charging.
Know of a guy that had a syncro that someone replaced the engine for a Passat one, seems that that engine killed the gearbox/diff. He ended up replacing the whole drive train from a Passat syncro.

RS6 Wagon. Noice.
I'm not feeling the love for mine at the moment. The DSC diagonal-fluid-linked suspension system has gone again, so it's back to feeling like it's got suspension bushes that are not just worn but completely missing. Clank, clank, clank. Rattle.

My Dad's looking for somewhere to take his Porsche 996 for annual servicing / general looking after. The place he currently takes it are apparently tending towards being more interested in the older air cooled stuff and he's getting the impression they're not too bothered about his.
Does anyone happen to have any good recommendations for a place in the midlands - somewhere not too far from Banbury.

Can recommend Cotswold Porsche Specialists - Lee is a good guy, although likes to chat :)

Thanks - much appreciated, I've forwarded that to him.

Nah. Not enough turbos. Or cylinders.

I had HiSpec Ultralites on my racecar. They were awful, so I swapped them out for Wilwoods. Hope you have more luck with yours.

hello car appreciators! this is especially for @lynx because I know he knows about this stuff but if anyone can help please do.
I need one of these. But the postage on the one in the pic is 6 days and I need it asap. Anyone know somewhere that might have one to pick up or next day please?

Does it need to be new? You could try a local breakers yard
-
• #77367
Thanks, I love the idea of this, have wanted to visit a local breakers yard many times in my car owning life but have never found this possible. I now have 3 on order after phoning round and I'm hoping one will turn up soon enough to get to the garage.. Bit of a nightmare.

Is there a specialist pug breaker? But as it is just a breather. What is wrong with the old pipe, as a breather you can use repair tape as a temporary measure.
The next option is if the pipe is of equal diameter or similar diameter either end just bodge a bit of straight tube on till you can get a better option. -

I also binned mine, briefly going for wilwoods (also shite) and then AP Pro5000
See how you go with them - a lot of the issues people seem to complain about it flex but sometimes that can be traced back to the uprights, see how you go with things like pad knock etc

An asking (wondering) how can you tell flex in the caliper mounting? Have made adaptors to run diverging calipers for motor bikes and cars wondering about flex.

By an 86 year old? They're just jealous.

They were in a Corsa. Which is now a write off.

Wouldn’t be surprised if your jazz is written off too tbh, if they have hit the wheel hard enough to flip they may well have damaged all sorts

Yeah. It's in the balance for sure. Am gonna go do some measurements.
T4 is a mechanical pump, well some are later ones may not be, or if engine swapped.
Having quote issues on the phone, on older conversations depends on location of batteries and jump lead length. But nower days with jumper packs small not sure there is a need. In past builds I'd run cables between the batteries as had this issue once. Also had separate charge points so I could charge batteries externally via generator by switching terminals to protect any electronics. Learnt that the hard way.
The idea was a physical link between the batteries that you remove when not needed.
